State Space Agency of Ukraine

On February 29, 1992, the National Space Agency of Ukraine was created by the Decree of the President of Ukraine (since 2011 – State Space Agency of Ukraine – DSAU).

This allowed our country to begin to formulate its own state policy in the field of exploration and use of outer space. The initiators of the Agency were the experts of the Council of Ministers, academics of the Academy of Sciences, activists of the Federation of Space, the heads of rocket and space enterprises. First of all, it is: Volodymyr Pavlovich Gorbulin, Yaroslav Stepanovich Yatskiv, Anatoly Pavlovich Zavalishin.

Today, the State Space Agency of Ukraine together with the leading enterprises of the branch carries out strategically important projects: creation of a Cyclone-4 carrier rocket and construction of a launch complex in Brazil; creation of the basic design of the first stage of the American missile carrier “Antares”; development and production of the engine of the upper level of the European missile “Vega” (the first launch of which took place on February 13, 2012); the creation of a multipurpose operational-tactical missile complex “Sapsan” for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the national system of satellite communication with the satellite “Lybid”, the system of coordinate and time provision of Ukraine based on the use of global navigation systems GPS, “Glonass” and “Galileo”, etc.
Significant part of space activity has become scientific space research. Over the past period, a complex of works has been carried out or carried out in accordance with national and international programs (in the first place with the Russian Federation), in which Ukraine participates, using its scientific equipment, spacecraft, the National Center for Space Testing and Testing. Projects Interball, Coronas-Photon, Radioastron, Potential, Ionosat and others are aimed at obtaining new knowledge on the actual problems of solar-terrestrial communications, near-Earth space, the influence of cosmic factors on the fundamental biological and physical -chemical processes.
