On June 22, at the initiative of the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine, a Committee on Defense and Industrial Complex (OPK) issues was established at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine (TPPU).
Major-General VSU, candidate of technical sciences Victor Ivanovich Kriva was elected head of the created committee.
The created committee will assume the functions of coordinating not only the tasks of the PTS, but also the issues of ensuring the development of the Ukrainian defense industry, as well as the declared plans for rearming the Armed Forces of Ukraine according to NATO standards.
In addition to the “League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine”, the participation in the work of the committee will be taken by the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian defense science.
As formerly member of the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine Nabsoviet, ex-prime minister and former defense minister Yuri Yekhanurov noted, the sale of export potential of enterprises of the private sector of the industrial complex of Ukraine should become one of the sources of attracting resources for the creation and organization of serial production of new models of weapons for re-equipment of the AUU in the context of limited capabilities of the defense budget.
According to the “League”, the potential export of Ukrainian OPK products, taking into account the capabilities of private defense enterprises, is estimated today at more than $ 3 billion a year. Implementation of the export potential in the League is tied to the early liberalization of the current system of military-technical-military-engineering and arms exports of Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian Military Office, in 2016, more than 50% of private defense companies comprised more than 50% of the State Defense Order Actors.
