President of Ukraine visited an exhibition of modern military equipment

On August 22, an exhibition of military equipment «The Power of the Unbreaked» opened on the main street of the capital, which will last until August 27. The exposition is presented to Kyiv residents and guests of the city with 67 units of various military equipment: armored armored cars, trucks and sanitary cars, self-propelled artillery units, tanks of various modifications, etc.
Enterprises «League of Defense Companies of Ukraine» is represented at the exhibition by the products of the RPA «Practika” (vehicles “Kozak-2”, “Kozak-2.M”, Armored MAZ and Land Rover Defender) and HC «UkrSpetzTechnika» («ANKLAV» and «JAB»)

After examining examples of modern weapons, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that this is a «report of the authorities, the Armed Forces, the defense-industrial complex to the people for what he was able to do and is a demonstration that the Ukrainian army has something to protect the Ukrainian land».
Petro Poroshenko noted that at the beginning of Russian aggression, the Ukrainian army had to repair what was already in use, damaged, or the consequence of mismanagement was brought to a non-military condition; physically, new and technically obsolete species, which were adopted at Soviet times, were manufactured from conveyors. The President noted that this was done in order to quickly meet the immediate needs. «Now we are launching a program of armed-technical modernization of the army. We have to bring our weapons to the level of the 21st century» — the Head of State said.

Together with the President of Ukraine P.O. Poroshenko exhibition was attended by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine – ST Poltorak, and the Head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine – O.V. Turchinov

In professional comments for the press Member of the League Board, Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies Valentin BADRAK said:
– The exhibition demonstrates a significant increase in development and shows that the Ukrainian defense complex (both the state and private sectors) has a tendency to develop. That is, nobody stands in the city and the war gives constant impetus to modernization and the creation of a new weapon. With regard to new products, it is very pleasing that the state’s attention to the private sector has increased. We also see a new armored vehicle that was recently adopted, namely, “Kozak-2” or a technique such as the latest electronic combat systems – the «ANKLAV» complex, the «JAB» ground intelligence complex, and improved versions of unmanned aerial systems. All this is private sector production. It is very important that we started seeing combat systems. That is, not when a single machine is shown, but when they show the result of the initiative from below through internal cooperation. For example, when the platform of combat vehicles includes other systems and development.

If we sum up, then at the tactical level, we already have a lot of technology that can rearm the army. The proposal we have exceeded the demand several times, but rather companies can produce machinery several times more than they now order. And the issue of resources here is really problematic. But if you take a strategic level, then there is not enough to be done. Unfortunately, so far we can not hope that Ukraine will soon have powerful systems that could solve the problem of deterring external aggression as a whole.
