UAG-40 appointment
Automatic grenade launcher with 40 mm bore shoots for the distance of over 2200 meters. It is intended for firing in enemies’ infantry, light-armored vehicles and protected shelters. The light weight, high level of portability and no need to prepare operating site are the main features of the UAG-40. All these features allow quick change firing position. The Design of UAG-40 and this tripod allow shooting from all terrain conditions: i.e. both in the field and urban territory.

The advantages of UAG-40
The significant advantage of UAG-40 is its design. The engineering development of UAG-40 includes:
- Friction damped bolt, which consists of cantilever springs. These spring are situated on the inner surface of the tube and interact with bolt assembly;
- Three-stage longitudinal screw-thread the barrel, consisting of two parts;
- Rotating knob control of trigger;
- Prefabricated iron sight, which is located in the handle and is designed to make UAG-40 mobile.
Conjunctive use of these design decisions have led to major benefits:
- High accuracy (density) while serial shooting.
- Reduced recoil momentum.
- High reliability and ease of manufacture and maintenance.
- The key advantage of UAG-40 is light weight. Its weight (without grenade and tripod) – 18 kg, which is considerable less than any existing analogue (LAG-40 – 34 kg, GMG – 28 kg, 40 AGL – 22 kg).
UAG-40 is based on automatic mechanism with linked belt grenade feed system (American metal chain M 16).
UAG-40 has a system of recoil momentum reduction, which consists of friction damper bolt, muzzle brake, and a three-stage tube rifle.
The main feature of muzzle brake’s design: using gas from the combustion of gunpowder, it reduces the recoil momentum, decreasing the impulse to toss up the tube and reducing the ground particles spray (where a tripod is located on).
Grenade launcher operation is done by two handles located at the rear of the body or by one handle and shoulder rest. The right handle is equipped with a trigger button, which has two modes – for single shots and for serial shots. Trigger button and the bolt are equipped with safety-lock, which exclude unauthorized shot in any circumstances, including falling, shaking, vibration, and blow from any direction. For convenience and reliability, both safety-locks are controlled by one lever.
UAG-40 is equipped with a mechanical sight, which provides a range of sight at a distance of 1500 meters. All parts of the mechanical sight are located on the handle, designed for carrying a grenade launcher. When folded, the mechanical sight provides aimed fire at a distance of 150 meters and is fully fit inside the handle. UAG-40 also has space for an optical, infrared, television or electronic sight.
Fast folding/unfolding tripod’s weight is 14 kg, including the mechanisms of grenade launcher attachment. The tripod is equipped with a seat for the operator. Together weight of operator, tripod, grenade launcher and ammunition box push tripod to the group when shooting, ensuring the immobility of its position on any unprepared ground.
Grenade launcher’s attachment mechanism to tripod provides the grenade launcher with turning angles: up – 40°, down – 10°, to the left/right – 16°; as well as provide the grenade launcher with a rigid fixation with the ability to aim while shooting fixed targets.
Combined use of all design decisions led to the following advantages: high accuracy with shooting series, low recoil momentum, high reliability and ease of manufacture and maintenance.
However, the major competitive advantages of UAG-40 are:
- Light weight (18 kg, which is considerable less than any existing analogue)
- High accuracy (aimed shooting range – up to 1500 meters).
