ARMORED RECONNAISSANCE VEHICLE BRDM-2T
The Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle BRDM-2T – is an armored, wheeled 4×4 vehicle equipped with a powerful D245 turbocharged diesel engine.
The vehicle features improved off-road capabilities and smooth ride.
BRDM-2T armored vehicle is intended for fire support of scout and infantry units.
The armored hull is used to carry weapon, ammunition, protection of the crew and passengers against small arms fire and shell splinters.
The purpose of the upgrade is to renew operational life of the armored reconnaissance vehicle BRDM-2 and vehicles made on the same platform and to improve the following:
- dynamic properties – by replacement of the petrol engine with a powerful diesel one that consumes less fuel and allows to increase the cruising range;
- mobility – installment of two additional seats for passengers and two side hutches that shortens dismounting time;
- maintainability&reliability – overhaul period of the engine is significantly extended;
- C2 – installment of modern radio stations
- Crew safety – diesel engine significantly reduces fire risk comparing to petrol engine
The upgrade ensures that vehicle meets requirements set for the modern military equipment
Upgrade package of BRDM-2 includes:
- Replacement of the GaZ-41 petrol engine with the D245.9Е2 or30Е2 diesel engine
- Replacement of the engine also includes modernization of:
- cooling system
- fuel system
- electrical equipmentt
- Installment of the 5-gears speed gear box
- Installment of the SACHS clutch (Germany)
- Installment of the R-123M radiostation
- Installment of two side doors that shortens dismount time
- Installment of four additional seats for 4 passengers
