Purpose: Machine gun KUM-7,62 is designed to defeat enemy personnel and technical resources, as well as to engage low-flight aerial targets.

Modernized machine gun KUM-7,62 was developed by Private Stock Company “Plant “Kuznya on Rybalsky” using the scheme of PKM machine gun.

The KUM-7.62 has significantly reduced weight and increased ease of use, in comparison with the original Kalashnikov PKM machine gun. Weight of the machine gun was reduced by 1.5 kg. The modernized machine gun was named KUM-7.62.

In the modernized model of the KUM-7.62 machine gun, it became possible to improve a variety of characteristics:

– the finning of the barrel of the machine gun was removed,

– fire dampener was redesigned,

– the reloading handle and butt plate became effective,

– trigger guard was improved,

– the rigidity of the receiver cover was increased due to the longitudinal ribs.

Shooting is carried out in continuous fire mode. The KUM-7,62 machine gun has external sighting devices in the form of a front sight and an adjustable rear sight. There is also the possibility of mounting an optical or night sight.

Shooting can be performed by different types of ammunition: with standard bullets, with tracer bullets, with armor-piercing incendiary bullets and with bullets of increased penetration.

KUM-7,62 can fire with a folding bipod. Automatic mechanism of a machine gun works on the system of removal of gunpowder gases from the barrel with a long stroke gas piston.

Feeding is made by a machine gun belt with a capacity of 100, 200 and 250 rounds of ammunition, which can be located in the corresponding lightweight ammunition boxes.

The machine gun combines efficiency, reliability and maneuverability. Analogues of the machine gun are in service with the armies of various countries of the world.
